Why don't you go back to the seller and ask him why it wobbles before you blackball him?

you must be in a bad mood or something? Im not blackballing anyone. Its a brand new prop with the hub looking a bit off. Dont know if the prop comes with the hub installed or not, and could really careless.

I figured, maybe it will center up when i mount it by tightening the bolt. It got better, but looks to be a little off still.

ill find out tomorrow when i rev her up!!! Snotty pants

I think all that Mark was trying to say is that maybe you should let the seller know of the props condition. Many e-bay sellers will stand by their sale and either refund your money if there is a problem or ship you another one to replace it. Is the old prop wobbly ??
I bought a new prop from an e-bay seller last year and it arrived without the hub but was supposed to come with it. Contacted the seller and they apologised profusely, sent me another (correct) prop with hub immediately by next day delivery and told me to keep the original one for my trouble.
Mark can speak for himself but I certainly think you should take his advice.

Not being snotty. Have had prop dealers (local) sell me "new" props before only later to find out that it was a reject, had been reworked, and didn't run right. Then I was accused of damaging it.

I know that anything you buy on ebay you have a recourse. I also know that there are some sellers on there that don't belong. Knowing that reputable business people who sell on there frequently want to perserve their image so you should not have a problem getting it ironed out.

But if you do have a defective product and get stung, then you have the ability to reduce the opportunity for someone else to get stung.....blackball him.

Re: New prop, wobbles, center off a bit

Boat ran great with the new prop. Little higher on the rpm's even though its the same "size x pitch" as the old one. Old is a michigan match, new is a mercury made prop.

I looked for a 11.25 x 11p prop and cant seem to find one. Im guessing i have to move on the size before choosing pitch to lower the rpm by 100.

Anyways, with a load and 2 people, im getting 5,800rpm at 14mph (guage, not gps) in calm waters. It used to get about 100rpm less. My max rpm should be 5,750 according to the sticker on the motor.

Now heres where it gets funky. With the old prop, i used to drag like heck with wot and trimmed all down. In order to get to speed and bring the rpm's up, i would have to trim up.

Yesterday with the new prop, i would hit 14mph and wot at 5,800 with trim all the way down. If i trimmed to get the bow up, id get an increase in rpm. So basicly, i only trimmed a little bit to get the bow up slightly, instead of trimming up higher (like with the old prop) to get some more speed out of her.

This is with an almost exact load as the previous prop would run under.

Any suggestions, questions?

Nope, both props are just twisted blades, no cup to them at all.

Any idea what i should be looking for?

Is it still "wobbly" if it is get it off your motor and back to the seller. You will not be doing your lower unit any good whatsoever if it is badly out of balance.
