OK something is not right here....loosing 400 rpm by adding a kicker motor? I have a 22' alum hull with a 9.9 jonnyrude and by removing the kicker I barely change 50 rpm, almost not noticible. If you getting a 400 rpm drop is the kicker to much weight for the back of your boat? Or is it mounted to far to one side? Just throwing out some ideas here as their should not be a 400 rpm drop for 100 lbs of motor weight unless it is mounted in an extreme position. Any chance of posting a couple pics for us to look at?
Honestly, it might have got to 4200 but it was slipping and i was headed into the wind.
As far as position of the kicker i dont have any pics of it out of the water but could snap a few while its at the slip next time i go up.

I like the proformance of the 15 I think the pulling to the right is a torque thing for sure. by all the numbers i have and ive run them on multiple prop cal sites a 17 should be the ticket. I am just scared to get a 4 blade
