Just bought a Sunbird 170 (93-94) with a yamaha 115hp outboard. Have some issues with the fuel level, speedometer.. I know the capacity of the thank is 23gl, anybody knows the deep of the fuel tank? I want to buy a new fuel guage but need to be sure if the 7” or 9” works…

welcome aboard.

you should trouble shoot before buying. it could be a bad connection, it could be a bad gauge, it could be a bad sensor. that requires pulling the sensor at which point you can measure the tank depth. however your sunbird has a belly tank low in the hull. the tank is long and low and the fuel sender is at the back end. so most of the time it will read full until you have less than half a tank as the boat sill sit tail heavy in the water

Maybe on a sunbird owners forum, I’d guess. But if it’s the boat I think it is. I’ve known two of them. Lovely wee classic shaped things. Both I knew of had Johnson 70hp on the back of them.

I had a 1990 17.5ft Sunbird Stinger a couple of years ago. I couldn't find anything specific on it. Other than a couple of pics from old company sales brochures and that Sunbird was from South Carolina, nothing.

No such thing as a 1994 Crosair outboard motor ,so there's that. They made engines back in the 40"s or 50's and Scott Atwater bought them out. Serial number might help. Possible the cover was branded as a Corsair , but that's not who made it.

Pretty sure the OP meant Corsair. ;)

Doesn't matter how you spell it , Mercury's or a Johnyrude was it for outboard motor selection . Yamaha / Zukes / Honda were all pretty much not part of a package deal for 16-21' generic boats during that time period. Any specific questions can be asked here or any of the relevant sub forums on this site.

Yeah, I don't think you're getting the whole picture here buddy. Looks like the OP didn't state the brand of OUTBOARD engine he has on his SUNBIRD CORSAIR boat. He mis spelled the model of boat he has, not the engine. Who knows what engine he has as he didn't state that. Most likely something made by OMC as Sunbird boat company was partnered up with them for a while.

The Corsair is powered by a Yamaha. From his 1st post back in November;

Moving to the Yammy section.

What motor is hooked to the tank has no bearing on what that boat has for a fuel tank

I get the whole picture and if you read it as written , the OP ask for the specs on a " Sunbird 170 crosair 1994 outboard engine." Now maybe if people used correct punctuation or actually worded the post correctly the replies might be more on point .

He's asking for the specs of the outboard. The quote in post #8 was of his 1st post and it ID'ed what outboard he has.

Now if @anlamecha would tell us what specs he's looking for.

thanks for the help, the Colombian Navy, is asking me for the specs (all sizes and capacity of the boat) I need it to get some permit/permissions.
My boat has outboard Yamaha 115hp, the last owner make that change.

Maybe you should of stated that to begin with. Moderator will delete my replies.
