new outboard... need prop advice...

I have a 1970 searay, and it is restored. It is a light boat, 17' long, and the new engine is a 1992 yamaha 115. I had a 1974 johnson 85, and I got a new hub to reuse the prop. It is a 13.25 x 15. I also noticed that the gearcase on the new yamaha is slightly bigger.

Anyway, the 15 pitch prop cant even be used as a baseline because i hit 5500 rpm at about 1/2 - 2/3 throttle (i think).

I knew I would need a new prop, and I plan to use the 15 pitch as an emergency backup, but I am not sure what size to get.

I boat at the yough lake and could not find any marinas that allow prop testing there or at deep creek lake.

I am worried about picking the wrong one, and wasting lots of money. My guess is that I want a 13 x 21, but thats just a guess.

Please advise me. I want a stainless prop.

Thanks in advance,

ok, excelent. Where did you look this up?

Also, Im looking for an all around prop... I do ski and wakeboard. But Im used to getting up behind the 85, so getting up shouldnt be a problem anyway.

Re: new outboard... need prop advice...

really need a model number to be sure which motor we are talking about.
The motor in the test I read was a 115TLRC max rpm tested was 5,300.
