first start of new motor last week, noticed a very slight miss.I figured it to be from the fogging oil(assuming Merc uses that on a new engine because it smoked a bit at first.I bought one of those IR guns to try confirming the motor temp at different locations since it appears to be running a little hot(guess I may need an engine driven seawater pump with my San Juan CC system)While on muffs last night,Realized I still had a slight miss on the port side. After about 30-40 minutes running,I was pointing the IR gun all around and found that several locations on the port side were hotter than adjacent spots on starboard.Valve cover on port,195-200.starboard,165-170.Same differences on intake bolts(right close to the heads)P-180-185,S155-160.Block-155,Therm housing-165.Talk about distress,I.m about $15,000 into a full repower, tried to do everything by the book, ordered everything from a merc dealer,if I could afford it,I'd just blow it up,right here in my yard.Ever wanna just give up?

Don't know what I was thinkin, you can't tell from the exhaust which side a miss is on since both sides dump into the y-pipe,duh.As for the miss,I think the miss sound is just from the water in the exhaust.Has to be,my luck CAN"T be THAT bad.Just ran the motor again and the temp does vary from side to side.port is 20-30 deg warmer. Can anyone tell me if maybe it has to do with the tube that runs from the port exhaust manifold to th port side of the intake?
