Can anyone shed light on the new impeller available for mercruiser outdrives that is of a self lubricating plastic and now has a run dry feature?

It supposedly lasts 10 times longer than a standard impeller and is only about 10 bucks more expensive. Company is called Green somthing or other?

Re: New Mercruiser Impeller

Getting lazy prematurely Bondo, I am having my mechanic do the work this spring. Gimbal Bearing, bellows, u-joints, and impeller. She ran a little hot at idle late last summer. He said he would be using one of these new jobbies and seemed to indicate that they are only available for I/O's at this time, not outboards. Struck me as a little odd.... I trailer my boat three hours to have this guy work on my boat so I do trust him implicitly. BTW he could have said global and not green, I was talking to him on a bad cell line.

Whats your take on them?
