Hi to everyone, I just wanted to take a second and make a post about myself.

I just joined a few minutes ago, and I did so after looking at a few boating forums, and found this one would prolly be in my best interest to join.

I'm 28 years old, and I live in Racine, Wisconsin. I am a four year, second generation member of Fifth Street Yacht Club, also in Racine, Wisconsin.

I own a 1981 16' Silverline Catalina tri-hull with a 75HP Johnson outboard, Heavy Hauler roller trailer, and 2000 Suburban to tow her around with.

I grew up on the water, more inland lakes in Wisconsin, but plenty of time on Lake Michigan.

Currently the boat lives in the garage, but it's slowly getting warmer, and I'm getting the itch again.

When she's not in the garage, she's on the Root river in Racine, Lake Michigan, and occasionally a small handful of inland lakes. More the river and Lake Michigan than anything else.

The boat got named "Size Doesn't Matter" in a boat naming contest held at the yacht club this past summer.

I spend every summer night after work on the boat, for atleast one short trip, and every weekend on it, going to either Kenosha, or South Milwaukee. And just looking at the sights.

Professionally, I am a Caterpillar Senior Service Technician, I work on Caterpillar heavy construction equipment.

I am really looking forward to the forums, but I feel I should have joined last winter, instead of right before summer, when I don't have a heck of a lotta time. Either way, glad to be here and meet new people.

Seems this place does have a lot of knowledge going on here, there's a few things I'm really interested in, for myself... But if I know anything, I'd like to help out someone else too.

Welcome aboard ZK. Sounds like you get a lot of time on the water. I'm jealous despite my weather benefit.

I also have yellow underwear. Worked at the LA CAT dealer from '77 - '01, still play with CAT truck engines a lot. Sad that they have left that biz. Is Wisconsin Ziegler? No, maybe they're Minnesota . . . hmmmmm.

HAH! Yellow underwear... If you cut me, I bleed yellow... Trips the girls out at the blood drives every time.

In Wisconsin and northern Michigan we're Fabco, Ziegler is MN.

Yeah I've got a lot of time on the water, it's kind of a shame I don't live where there is nicer weather, but it's kinda funny too.

Whenever it gets above 50 degrees and the ice is gone, myself and anyone else that owns a boat literally chain ourselves to a railing and never leave.

The sad fact of the matter is this, I love boating. I love boats. I go for a boat ride every day after work just to relax (and if you've ever been down a river, in the middle of the city, when the sun is going down, and no one else is near, you know what I mean). And I honestly have no been able to find an experience to either meet or beat boating. In winter, I think about it constantly.

Yeah I'm a senior service technician, which is really a nice way of saying I don't wrench as much as I used to, I spend a lot of time at a computer now, and telling other techs what to do. I wrench about 60% and paperwork about 40%. I miss wrenching the 100%, but whatcha gonna do?

I don't really get into or understand gasoline motors too much, which is ironic because everything I own is gasoline. We have a tech at work that works on gasoline generators, the guy knows everything about everything when it comes to gasoline motors.

Diesel motors always seemed to make more sense to me. Give me a two inch wrench and let me go... Got fuel? Got compression? Got air? That's a lot easier than asking: "Got fuel? Got spark? Got air? Got ignition module? Got coil? Got spark plugs? Ect..."

I took naturally to diesel motors, and I used to work on over the road trucks, I liked that more, as all my ASE certifications are kinda going to waste with Caterpillar. But I do get paid more... So it works out.
