That is something else. The swim movement reminds a lot of a jointed rapalla, But the twitch move he put on that thing is unreal.

Re: New Japanese swimbaits!

I'll have to look this evening, but I think I have some old white plastic minnows that have the same cross section as what is in the videos. These were to be used on jigs, but swim very similiar. Can't say the were very good at producing strikes. While the action looks very life like, I can't say I've ever witnessed a bait fish in the wild that swims like that. I'll post a pic this evening, if I find them.

I agree - the twitch move looks real, but I never saw any fish swim like that.

ichibantackle dot com carries 'em but they're sold out. Package of 4, 5.6" model is $21, 6.4" model is $22

Boy, those are very close. Leave it to the japanese to improve one something we designed years ago.

True they look the same, but do they work the same?? Rubber worms look the same but the rubber compound in them makes them work a lot different. Senko is a good example. Same goes for rods, they all look the same but we all know there are huge differences in action with quality verses wally world.

I agree that 22 dollars for 4 of those baits (ebay buy it now) is way to much$$$ Would like to try one out though.

Re: New Japanese swimbaits!

I am sure the action is not exactly the same, and the Japanese are known for perfecting things. I haven't used them in some time, but from what I remember, it is somewhat similiar action. I'll have to give it a try, this spring, just to see. I was just a bit surprised by "NEW" and relatively expensive lure, and I recognized the design similiarities, immediatly. At $5+, they have to be better, right? I don't think I paid $5 for a bag of 25. I'll have to see how many I have left. A buck a piece, sounds like a great deal! :D

While I am not surprised about japanese reels and their subpurb engineering, lures seem to a bit away from that norm. I have not visited Japan, but was not under the impression it had a high number of freshwater fishing, especially for North American species. While I have visions of coi ponds everywhere, bass, pike, and muskies??? Hmmm, maybe muskies...There is allot of small coi to eat. :D

Fork out 20 bucks and get yourself a Lucky Craft Live Pointer suspending jerkbait. It might burn your wallet but I guarantee you'll like the quality of the bait. I have seen a show Gary Klein did fishing in Japan with a Japanese pro. Their lakes are super clear, real finicky bass. Bass was introduced into Japan and is considered an invasive species but bass fishing is huge over there.

Re: New Japanese swimbaits!

While I know there have been some pros from Japan, didn't know it was BIG over there. Hard to picture all those bass boats on those koi ponds! :D :D :D

I must be too cheap. If a lure is over $6, I cring, and usually walk away. For $20, I'll have to pack my chain saw, to cut those limbs down. :D Outside of lost lures, I will have the occasional broken/bent hook, rusty if left in container with water, worn down deep diver lip, etc. Fishing mostly multi-specie water, there are a number of lures that get replaced, just for teeth marks. Walleyes, Pickerel, Northerns, and Muskies are very tough on lure finishes. I don't ever throw them away, but do replenish in that size and color, if still available.
