new Honda 30 not idling well

Have a new Honda 30 HP. It will not stay running for long at idle. As a result it is a little tricky to get in gear without it stalling out. I don't want to shift it at a higher rpm required to keep it from stalling out so I am having to drop it down to idle, change gears, and speed it up quickly to keep it from dropping out. I've got a great dealer that will probably get it right but I'm just looking for a little better understanding of what to expect. Should it idle for extended periods and continue idling when put in gear?

Thanks.

Chances are the idle was just set too low at the factory for the load in your application. You can week the carb idle yourself(single screw on the carb) or run it by the dealer. The engine should run around 700 RPM in gear at an idle all day.

Thanks. I like that better than thinking I've already started carburator problems :)
