Hio everyone I am new here and I just recieved a wonderful gift from my uncle. A 17 ft sportcraft with a 70 horse Evinrude 3 cyl. The prop is pretty banged up and I thinkl it should be replaced. The model # is e70elcs I believe that it is either a 1979 or 80. Can someone please tell me? I have tried to read and understand prop selection but I really don't get it. Any suggestions?

Welcome!

Thats a 1980. You want to prop it out with an average load so it is capeable of 5800 - 6000 rpms.

Good luck!

Welcome to the forum. Those were good motors and if it's been well maintained, it should continue to give good service. Prop selection is not an exact science. The correct one is the one that will let your engine turn in the upper quarter of it's Manufacturer rated maximum RPM range. I would suggest you find a prop shop that will let you try out and return props until you get the right one. Good luck.
