Just want to say hello and introduce myself. Just getting back into boating, recently picked up a 09' Tahoe Q5i, Mercruiser 4.7L, 190HP, with a vengeance 21 pitch prop. Have taken it out 3 times now in California, so far can't complain but looking to do more with it. I took quite a crowd out on it last Sunday and did some tubing and probably had some weight issues because it struggled to plane. Been looking at the "smart tabs" and maybe switching to the 4 blade 19 pitch prop. Its been a while "20 years" since I had a boat but glad to be back on the water. Hope to be engaging with a lot of you over time, thanks again.

welcome aboard

if you add people, you need to change prop down on pitch, as you are asking a lot out of a 4.3 as you load it.

if you add people, you need to watch your capacity plate

smart tabs dont help with over-loading
I would add Bennett tabs vs smart tabs

I put SmartTabs on my boat and it does help with getting on plane (that's not why I got them, though). They won't do much to help a heavily loaded boat get up faster. Exactly how many people did you have in the boat?

I guess I should have clarified, I always follow all safety standards and placards. I was carrying myself 3 other adults and one child, with a cooler and the tube. Total weight was not maybe more than 650-700 pounds of personnel and equipment. I am never haste on safety, but I appreciate the recommendations about both the bennett tabs and smart tabs. I haven't looked at the Bennett ones are they better than the Nauticus smart tabs? and what prop pitch would you recommend?
