Howdy:

Thought I would ask here before I screwed something up.....manual tilt on my 1990 48HP has gone belly-up....the release actuator is frozen; I am assuming the cartridge is dry....the release clip that attaches to the cable and release handle wasn't broken until I reset it down on the cable and then, of course, it broke. I noticed last fishing season, it seemed harder to raise the engine , ..Any time I tried to find how to recharge the canister, I met either a dead end with a dealer who wanted to replace the assembly, at the 150 dollar price point, or I found the part for 150 dollars plus shipping....again, no info on rebuilding the canister or adding fluid to it.....of course, now it is do or die time......so any information is appreciated. Of course the hex bolt is frozen and the actuator on the canister takes a special tool to remove it.

So far, I have gone back thru page 20 of y'alls postings...nothing yet, so I will keep looking for info...

Thanks in advance,

Bob

The cyl is non-serviceable. After you check the price on a new one, you'll probably want to go on E-bay or check the top secret files at the begining of this forum and look for salvage yards. Last price I seen was $535.00 for new.

Thank you sir...I was getting that impression as I was "fooling" with it....for that kind of money, may as well start thinking aftermarket tilt and trim.....

CMC make a good looking unit. When my assist locks up, and they say it will, that's the direction I'll go. Best of luck. Rick.
