I haven't posted for a while. I have a '70 mercury 500 50 hp. the remote control wasn't working very well especially on the shift side. It's pretty worn out. For those of you who know what they look like inside, there's a wheel with a tooth or tang in it that meshes with an oblong oval shaped piece of metal that hooks to the cable to shift. The tooth and especially the groove that it fits in is worn out. Do any of you guys know where I might get new parts for the inside of this remote control? I also intend to install new cables as well because I think that's what caused this problem in the first place, so if you have any suggestions about where to get cables that would help too. I wouldn't be opposed to putting in some sort of universal remote control(if there is such a thing) because my ignition switch went bad and I had to mount it and the choke button in the dash anyway.
