New gimbal bearing slips into housing with hardly any pressure?

I was changing my gimbal bearing and when I removed the sterndrive the bearing was attached to the driveshaft of my SX drive. Have seen that happen before but when I go to put in new bearing it pretty much slips into place with hardly any pressure. My old bearing was not in that bad shape but was making some noise and still turns freely but loose...

I am assuming that it may have spun in place and maybe wore the inside of the housing??? Can I use silicone or some type of glue to give the bearing more bite?? please don't say change out the transom.... even though that is what I am thinking...

thanks

Well I ended up dimpling around the casing where the bearing seats and using some blue locktite as I could not find a store with bearing retainment compound.. I also took the punch and hit the aluminum part of the gimbal bearing that sits next to the casing spreading the edges out a bit to help bite... hopefully this keeps it in place.... I have replaced it 2 times now in 3 years from water intrusion and can not figure where it is getting in.... used bellows glue and new bellows each time and very careful to clean and make sure everything loks in place and tight.... checked grease tube as well....

I did mine this spring and i really had to drive that dude in, even put it in the freezer for a couple hours. i believe you could drill holes at an angle through the edge of the bearing into the transom and use roll pins to secure it in place, just my thoughts on it . good luck!
