Thanks!

Re: New Gas Tank

I haven't done it yet but I am going to on my 18' SS project. I haven't been able to find any tanks that will fit under the floor. I think I'm going to settle for this one http://www.iboats.com/18_Gallon_OEM...9838710--**********.652545328--view_id.483858 and mount it between the stringers and let it stick up the 3 or so inches as it will be covered by an elevated casting deck I'm going to build in the stern.

I put a Moeller FT4033 40 Gallon Poly Fuel Tank from Great Lakes Skipper, it's a discontinued tank. and Fits great between my stringers and is about 2 inches below deck. I could only go maybe 3-4 inches longer, but couldn't find anything that fit as well.

Hey EzomBee.. how about this..
Product # 032525
Product Dimension: 47.00L x 18.03W x 7.50H

or the "belly" tank Product # 032529
Product Dimension: 43.00L x 25.75W x 8.63H

Check this page for more info on current production items..
http://www.moellermarine.com/aftermarket/fuel_storage_tanks/permanent_tanks/

There's a 34 Gallon belly.. there too.. even though it only came with a 18g doesn't mean you need to keep that, I know there isnt' much space down there, but you can gain a few gallons by going with a belly tank. also you typically loose about 1-2 gallons of usable fuel and depending on where you boat you may want a little more. :)

Thanks kainon. The 18 is fine with me. I only had a 12 in the Jupiter and even that pretty much got the job done. The belly tank is nice but holy crap expensive!!!

Re: New Gas Tank

Depending on what you plan on doing. I have twin 18gal tanks and wish I had some more fuel on those 40+ mile round trip halibut fishing. I will burn 20-22 gallons and if the weather picks up with I had about another 5-6 gallons without carrying a spare can. However I have never needed more than the 36 gallons.
Otherwise I aways run about 10 gallons a day for a 9 hr day of fishing. 15 miles of running and rest trolling with the main motor. I have a 140hp chevy.

Even though I am not ready for that phase of my retro, I have thought about putting tanks under my floor. My question is how do I vent it so that it is safe and pass boat safety regulations? What did you guys do?

Re: New Gas Tank

all the tanks have connections for a fill, vent, and suck (I don't know what that's called). You run a hose from the vent connection to a special vent fitting you drill into the side of the boat.
