New Gas Tank Problems

I just purchased a new Tempo Ultra 6.5 gallon gas tank and fule line. I cannot get the tank to prime. I have checked for the proper fittings and everything seems to check out fine. I even tried to open the valves on the fuel line but it is still not priming. Is there something that needs to be done to the tank first. I am at a loss  .

There is probably a vent on the cap that needs to be opened.Look inside for the dip tube it may be damaged or fallen off.Be sure you have the fuel line and primer bulb the right way around.
Usually arrows showing flow to motor.

Re: New Gas Tank Problems

The problem is that you have air in the line and and when you prime, you taking on air from the engine side of the line.

What you need to do is remove the line from the engine and place the end into a container of gas.
Now prime the bulb until you no longer see bubbles coming out of the end of hose you have in the container. Next reconnect the line back to the engine, and start the engine.

tgodiver
That will only work if he takes the fuel connector off the fuel line and puts the open hose in a container of gas..

Either look inside the tank or remove fitting to make sure the pick up tube is in place.

Make sure you have the fuel line connected in the proper direction.

Bart...just had the same problem minutes ago and here is what I did...took of the connector tip off the gas line...held the gas line lower than the tank...held my finger over the gas line opening...push the primer bulb in and once the primer bulb opened back up I took my finger off the line...did this a few times then the gas just started to flow...it worked or me...good luck
