A TV add was showing the new Evinrude E-tec motors...

I confess, I am not a "engine" person and some of these new power plants are new to me...

...Looking for your experience, info, good and bad on these new motors. Thanks.

Re: New Etec info?

Check the various message boards. I think you'll find very few reports of problems. E-tecs have been great engines right from the git-go. You do understand the differences between a two stroke engine and a four stroke? Outboards have been two strokes since Hector was a pup but Evinrude turned that technology into a work of art. Four strokes operate on the same principle as your car.

Re: New Etec info?

The great thing about the Etecs is they are very clean.
Both the 2 stroke emissions and cumbustion emissions
are lower than 4 strokes and government requirements.
And this was all done by a company that bought a failing operation no doubt with internal problems and a suspect product and turned it around to a top grade state of the art operation and product.
Just imagine getting the dealer operation back on board and trained in the new technology.
I've only seen one horror posting here on an Etec and I have to wonder if it may have been a dealer who somehow fell through the cracks. Most Etec postings here were allready addressed by the company and involved oil selection and proper engine programing.
