2nd and 3rd week will be on Sebego lake in Maine. Any Sunday is good for me. Fresh or salt?

Many bodies of water to consider, so I am wondering how many would travel/trailer for the day or weekend?

I am on Buzzards Bay and there are a few members who boat these waters. There is also the outer Cape, Vineyard sound, the Winni crowd and the lakes in Maine, then you have Naragansett Bay and Long island sound, and how about Lake Champlain?

Every year in Red Brook Harbor during the last weekend in July there is the "Bass Ackwards" sailing event, which is a general party of boats, etc.

Anyway, it is probably a tough thing to pick a single location, but maybe a single day/weekend.

I would only be interested in fresh water!

Sebago has always been a great lake. I've heard that Sebago disallows 2-stroke outboards. Is that true?

Well that's good news! I'd really like like to take my boat up there some time.

Yep, 2 smokes are still welcome.
Only real adverse thing proposed that will affect boaters is the possibility of them closing the Songo Locks to boat traffic to try to control the Milfoil issue on the river. Hope they don't....

This thread is getting a bit old but I'm in if there is still interest. I live 10 minutes from the lower bay. There is the state park and another place called Point Sebago for you campers.

That's where I am, I have a seasonal site at Point Sebago, along with a slip. I am pretty much at the sandbar at the rivers end every weekend from Memorial day to Columbus day. sure hope they don't close the locks because that is a great day trip through the river and all the way to the top of Long lake.

Re: New england get together 2012

I was involved with the 2010 NE Get together. We met on the CT River, and had 4 boats and a good group of people.

Last year I saw some planning, but I'm not sure if a location was ever found.

I would once again try and make an even if it fit into the schedule, but am stuck on the CT River or Long Island Sound. Any kind of land locked lake, or trip more than into the central area of the sound is out for me.

I will keep an eye on the event.

I just did some google-foo. Looks like my info on closing the locks was old news. It appears that the bill to close them was shot down due to concerns voiced by many local marina's and businesses.

What is for certain is that the Naples causeway bridge is now closed, so the Songo River Queen II will no longer be going down the Songo. Instead it looks like they will be taking it up and down Long Lake.

Found this video of the River Queen's last pass through the bridge. I guess an era has ended :(.

I wouldn't mind meeting up with folks at the lake. Our place is on the north western shore behind Outer Island. If you see a big guy out in a '70's Glastron that's white with a redish-orange Glastron spear, and Volvo 280 drive (probably the only boat on the lake like that now), there's a 90% chance it's probably me. :D

Re: New england get together 2012

I made it in 2010. It was about a 90 - 100 miles each way. Well worth it.

If the location and dates are right I would try and make it again. Salt water is tough because my boat is not so good in the ocean unless I stay in Boston Harbor and the weather is right.

I have a place rented on Long Lake in Naples for the 4th. of July week. Quick trip down the Songo and I can be in Sebago.

I can make just about any lake in NH or Maine. Been on most of them. Most weekends you will find me on Winnisquam.

I also have a place rented the third week in August in Maine on Mattawamkeag Lake in Island Falls. I don't expect any to head up there as you are almost in Canada and it is a 6 hour drive from Boston.
