New bulb or fuel pump?

I've done a lot of reading about why my motor may be bogging down at WOT. I know it's probably the fuel pump (I've ruled out vapor lock) but my primer bulb is ALWAYS soft. I give it 3 squeezes to start the motor but it never gets hard. When my motor bogs down and I pump the bulb, nothing happens (it stays bogged down). Could the fuel pump be the reason why the bulb never firms up? I'm just wondering which I should replace first. Thanks.

Re: New bulb or fuel pump?

I had a similar problem before, see my earlier posts 2 weeks back. I'll bet on the bulb, disconnect, blow in flow direction and blow against flow, should only allow passage one way, if it leaks back the wrong way, it should be require alot of pressure. Could also be a faulty anti siphon valve if you have one. If these two pan out then look at pump, kit to rebuild pump is about $10.00. Good luck. You might also point bulb arrow toward the sky and pump it, gravity may help the valve seat if it is the bulb. good luck
