New Boater with Engine Question

What is a good rpm range for a 250 mercury on a 2240 robolo? The boat weighs 6200 with fuel, I hover around 4000 or so, but it seems slow. Please help :confused:

Don't know the exact, but 4000 is way too slow. A friend had one, and I am thinking it was supposed to run 5800 to 6000 as best I can remember. Get with your local dealer to be certain. If engine seems to run good, it is probably just a prop issue. Good Luck

Outboards 'like' to run between 3000 and 3500 for normal cruising. you should be up on a plane and scooting along at that RPM.<br /><br />North shore or South shore boater?
