Hi all, could be posting in wrong place?!?... I have a 1977 formula f20-cl with omc 235 as a first boat. I am in the process of replacing the tilt motor and also the starter. My question for the day is this,,, I have a tilt toggle and a trim toggle to the right of the steering wheel and also two rocker switches to the left of the wheel that work left and right trim flaps. what does the trim toggle supposed to work?? the toggle seems to do nothing when flipped up or down??

Only a guess but normally tilt and trim refer to the drive angle position. Maybe it'll work with the new motor installed.

the tilt or "hi-tilt" lifts the drive for trailering only. And the drive must be in the full tilted down position when the engine is running.

To trim the drive, OMC offered an optional system called selectrim, which had a hydraulic or electromechanical lift system for the front engine mounts, thus trimming the whole engine and drive angle controlled electrically from the trim switches on the shifter.

so they are two completely separate systems

Your boat may or may not have selectrim mounts in which case it has no trim and drive angle is fixed..

Re: New boater needing help with 1977 formula f20

Been a while the boat is running like a dream. found a few flaws with it that I had to work out. All is good now but I still havn`t fix the trim. I need a selectrim motor. I stuck a drill on the shaft of the armature of the old motor and the pump works to lift the engine. I just need to find an electric motor for the selectrim. Any good leads for one of those things. there is only one on ebay and its like $140 plus shipping.
