Re: new boat

An 18' boat with a 115 should be pretty fast,40-45 anyhow, I would suspect the engine isn't running quite right so it is only making a fraction of the power it should .

If the boat is rated for a 150 then ya, if not then don't do it.

Boats are rated for a specific horsepower, if you exceed that you cna do irreparable damage to the boat at the very least and possibly hurt or kill someone in the deal too.

There should be a capacity plate somewhere by the console that has load and HP info

A 115 on an 18' should have no problem getting on plane. How old is the boat? Has it been checked for soggy foam? It seems your carrying some extra weight from something.

Re: new boat

the motor just got out the shop and my dad is a mechanic so there is nothing wrong with it. the foam is good. and it is rated for a 155 and 5 people. when we took it out we had 3 in it and it would not get on plane in less i gave it all it had and then it would just push a big wake for about 45 seconds so i was thinking about trying the 150 because it is on one of my boats that we have to redo the floor.

Heck yeah my brother.. If it's rated for the 150 and you allready have one in good running condition than I say make the swap a/s/ap....
Then tune up, clean-up (or whatever) the 115 and have it ready for your other boat or sell it....
