New boat warranty question

Recently i picked up a Wellcraft boat, It was a new boat and under a full new Mfg's warranty however the question i do have is a lttle different

The seating in the boat has begun to take on a light pink stain.......erractic and splotchy and cant be removed in by a light bleach solution. Doing some research i may have found the cause (fungus by product) is this something a Mfg is liable for? I mean after all you can hardly prevent moisture from getting on a seat in a open bow boat.

Well my first thought is that you need to prove there is a defect in material and/or workmanship which is what most warranties cover. What is the defect? I don't think you can use workmanship, because the stain is not about how the material was installed on the seat i.e. workmanship. So maybe material . . .

What material is it? What is it designed for? Seems like a stretch to me, but I have heard of that pink carp before. Have you read the manual thoroughly? Do they recommend that you store it in any particular way? Methods to reduce the affect of moisture and humidity? You might be able to make a case if it is not clearly called out in the manual. This would prove it is not owner negligence, but I am not sure what else it proves i.e. material or workmanship . . . What's your impression of the dealer?

First call the dealer. If no satisfaction, call Wellcraft. Your seats should not be splotchy or turning pink. It's a new boat and you should get what you paid for.....

Well unfourtantley the dealer no longer carries the line of boat's, he's also a freind of mine and i do not want to put him into a bad postion with with his shop employee's rather a long boring story.

The outer material is is in great shape it's just so odd i find it hard to pin this down any Mfg but none the less its a pretty untasteful site.

Well, he is your friend and you did buy the boat from him. So I would think that he might consider making a call to the factory and inquire about the problem for you. He may have some ties their that might find out what's going on....If he's uncomfortable doing this, then make the call yourself. You have a warranty...If I bought a new car and my seats turned pink...Well, you know who's doorstep I'd be camped on....
