I have a 1992 Skeeter zx175 with a Suzuki 150 super six 2-stroke / oil injection. Runs very well but has trouble idling, even after warm up. any ideas? I was thinking the first thing to do would be to change out the fuel filter. I think I found it but look very unaccessible. Is this change out of the league for me (used to working on my truck)? I also would like to know what oil I should buy for the injection. I would also like to change out the oil in the lower end. What oil do I use for this and how much. Is there anything else I should do to keep it running strong? Sorry for all the questions, but like I said, I am new to this and would like to keep the engine running strong for years to come. Thanks in advance for your help. :)

well, the first thing i would do if i were you is buy a service manual. It will answer all the above questions, and you wont have to question the accuracy... I am also new to boating, and this has been recommended to me many times already. My manual is on its way : )

jason

I was thinking of doing that but not sure what year my engine is. I bet it is a 1992 just like the boat but the only super six I could find was in the 1991 manual. What manual would you recommend? I have seen two on this forum. One is a tune up and the other is a factory manual.

although i dont own any suzuki's, in my experience the factory manuals are always better. but usually cost more. just make sure that you are getting a full service/overhaul manual, to save from having to buy another down the way.

jason

Re: New boat owner and need help

Took the boat out today and ran like a dream. The only problem I had when getting ready to trailer the boat, it did not want to idle. It also did not want to take off and get on plane. Sounds like it was flooding out. It ran perfect for 2 hours till I got to this point. I have not had a chance to change out the fuel filter yet, but this is driving me crazy. Other than this the engine has ran perfect. This problem has happened to me the last two time I have taken the boat out (the only two times I have taken it out since I just bought it Tuesday. Any ideas? Let me know if you need any more info.

You can call a Suzuki dealer and give him the model and serial number off the transom clamp and they will tell you the year. Or go online to brownspoint.com and you can check their online parts section to get the year. Then go get a manual. Your carbs may be due for an overhaul.
