Hello Everyone, I thought I would introduce myself here on the forum. my wife and I just bought a new to us 1998 Sea Ray 190BR with a 5.0 Mercruiser. We are pretty excited this is our first boat. We took it out this past weekend and for the most part it ran great. We had a little problem we broke a water pump hose so it was pumping water in the boat so I am working on getting that fixed. I am worried that we maybe burnt up the bilge pump but only time will tell.

For the most part I am hoping to get through this summer without any major issues. Then hopefully go through and replace hoses and fluids for some basic PM work. Is there anything that I should really watch for or any advice to keep in mind? Any and all help is much appreciated. Thanks!

I doubt you burnt up the bilge pump, I have found them to be surprisingly durable. or did it stop pumping water? I accidently hit the pump switch[ DUH] ran around the lake with the pump on, running dry, no water in the bilge, for 45 min. last week. Still works though. As far as the [time will tell diagnosis procedure] I would prioritize that ! Put some water in the bilge with a garden hose or sumtbn' and see if it works !

Thanks guys.

I will go check out the other forums.

The bilge has stopped pumping water so that is why I think it is burnt up. It would have been running non stop for probably close to 12+ hours. Tomorrow I am going to work on it a little to try and get everything up and running again.

If you do end up replacing the bilge pump I would reccomend one that has an auto float switch on it or install one along with your new pump. Pretty easy to do(maybe it had one already dont know?) and can be a real life saver or boat saver if you will...

Yes, it had an auto float switch, which I thought was nice.
