New axles for an old trailer

I have a trailer that was custom made for my 13' wooden boat back in 1955. I want to save the frame, suspension and cross-beam and attach new axles/wheels/and fenders. The beam is cast iron (from a mid 30's truck) and could be fitted with a plate at each end to bolt on an axle. Where can/should I look for these parts online? I can do some fabrication as necessary, but want it to look clean when I'm done.
Great ng, thanks for the help
Grant

Re: New axles for an old trailer

Hello fellow Vermonter! I replaced my axles from parts from Northern Tool. I purchased "stub axles" and manufactured the cross beam using 2 x 2 x 1/4" square stock. Came out great and much stronger than original.

I had to fabricate the attechment points but I used U bolts from a spring shop in Rutland.

Bob

Hi Bob; I'm in Manchester. Hope others with ideas like yours pitch in. I'll need to sand blast and repaint the whole trailer sometime, but need to get the 15" truck tires away from the hull... then I can bounce from one lake to another without 'trailer rash'. Hoping to take a spin on Lake Bomoseen next week.
I'll take a look at Northern Equip.

Grant, Let me know if I can help. I have allot of resources in Rutland (work in Rutland myself) for steel and fabricating. E-mail me at RPF924@hotmail.com and I will give you my phone #.

I am just a few miles from Bomoseen, it's been pretty busy with traffic lately but the Bass fishing has been great.

Bob
