Yesterday I picked up for a mere $150 what I thought, and still do until proven otherwise,a nice little deal.
16' Pacific Mariner,on trailer, two motors, one is a 1957 ev 35 Mod #25930,the other a Johnson 10 mod #QD 12 51/52. Boat is in quite tidy shape and came with 2 gas cans,2 steering rigs,a full bimini top and several other bits and pieces.
They both turn over and compression seems OK but I have yet to do a proper test. At the moment I am having trouble removing the stb clamshell on the 35.The screws are seized and I think I may have to drill them out, unless anyone can offer a better idea.
I'm quite excited and can't wait to get at them,if anyone has any useful tips for dealing with these venerable motors I would be very glad of them.

Cheers all geoffwga1.

Re: New aquisition

Wow sweet deal, Ill give you $201 :)

Hit the screws with penetrating oil. If those are bad I feel for you. Might need to invest in an impact driver.

Are they saltwater motors?

Post some pics if you can.

Re: New aquisition

I think you will find that the kicker engine works better if you hang it off the transom.
Instead of in the back seat.:D

Looks like most of the original paint is gone from skeg. Most of the bidders will notice that and back out. I will take the chance at $151 and bail you out.

Great!

Does the transom require the long shaft extension installed on that Bigtwin??

Re: New aquisition

It does look that way doesn't it but it's a bit of an optical illusion,I measured it when down on that level and it's about 1 1/4" below the transom.I'll tinker with it after I get it all up and running.
