Is there such thing as a brand new Alpha One Gen one transom unit, or are the all aftermarkets with mercruiser stickers? I was told they haven't been made since 1994.
Thanks

"Transom Plate" or "Gimbal Housing"?
They appear to be available from Mercruiser (i.e. non after-market).

I would say that all the parts are available. I just bought a whole bunch of non-aftermarket parts for my Alpha Gen I.

Are you asking because you need to buy a complete assembly? Or just curious?

I think you can still buy the brand new assembly from a Mercruiser dealer.... but you could probably buy a new boat for what it costs. You can buy a good used complete assembly for not much money.

Yeas I am looking for a whole assy. I was told mercruiser does not make alpha 1 gen 1 anymore. The new ones are knock offs. I am tempted to buy a used one but don't want to have to deal with buying something that has problems.

OK I think you are talking about the aftermarket SEI replacement Alpha 1 gen 1 outdrive. You are probably right about no longer making new gen Is, but there are apparently new OEM transom assemblies available.

Mercruiser should still make all the stuff. But the "knockoffs" as you call them from SEI are a good product at a MUCH better price. Especially the outdrive which carriers a 3 year NO FAULT warranty. Mercruiser can't even come close to that at twice the price.
