New 20 hp overheating

Brand new Merc 20 hp short leg on 15” transom RIB . Engine light comes on occasionally with a rough idle. Let it sit for 5 min.and it cools . Any suggestions as to why this happening on a brand new engine ?

Have you checked the oil level? Is it low? Is it pumping water out of the tell tail like it should?

If it is new, let the dealer figure it out !!! If you start tinkering you might void your warranty
