I ordered it from the factory with the t-top,gps/fish finder, stereo, leaning post, tilt wheel, and bow cushion. It handles great. I have only put about 10 hrs on it so far.

Re: new 186 cc

Nice boats, Groper and Cuure! I am looking at 3 Key Wests: a 1900, a 186 CC and the new 211 CC. As much as we'd be offshore, I am leaning towards the 186. The local dealer has one with the 150 Yamaha 4 stroke. I read in here that one owner said it runs great, but he notices the extra weight (versus the 115) in the back (hull). Should I go with the 150? Or consider the 115 on the 186? Like I said, the new 211 is a nice boat, but I think I'd get more practical use (mostly inshore) with the 186. BTW, my wife says we ought to get the 150 motor. Also, any comments about the seat versus a leaning post at the console would be welcome.

I have not driven one with the 150 so I can't say. I think it's about 2 grand more. I love the leaning post upgrade.

Re: new 186 cc

The 150 makes the boat sit a little bit stern heavy but it will haul *** :D I would buy it anyday again with this motor. I have been reading about it with the 115 and it is slightly underpowered with 4 people in it. With the 150, you jump on plane like a jetski. Have not taken it yet offshore due to high seas and still breaking in the motor.

Let's see the pics once you get the boat...good luck!

Re: new 186 cc

Hey! Nice Boats!
I have a 2005 186 dc with Yamaha F150 and can second that it's a little tail heavy with that motor, but it has plenty of power and the motor's weight doesn't seem to hurt the handling. In fact I think the boat handles quite well for it's size/weight, and is pretty solid feeling when things get choppy. Overall I have been really happy with the boat and don't have any major issues.

Cuure - I've been playing with props lately and am wondering what prop you are running and the numbers you are getting with it. Mine came with a 14.25 x 18p yamaha Performance 3 prop and I get about 43mph at WOT at 5500 with about 40 gallons fuel (holds 60 gallons), the basic safety gear, bimini down, two people, and the motor is mounted in the second hole down from the top of the bracket. These motors like to be WOT more like 5800-6000 rpm, so I am trying to get it propped to get some higher rpm. I tried a yamaha black steel 13.75 x 19p and got 46 - 47 mph at about 5400 WOT in the same conditions. It was definitely over propped as the hole shot was not spectacular and the general performance was not as snappy. I did some horse trading and have a yamaha black steel 13.75 x 17p which I hope to try this weekend.

After you get a chance to run it some more it would be interesting to see what your numbers are.
Thanks, and enjoy the boat!

Re: new 186 cc

I have the F115 on my 186CC. I do agree that with 4 people it is luggy. I put trim tabs on it, and it made a huge difference on the hole shot with 4 people. My top speed is about 37-38 with a 15 inch cupped prop. verified with the gps. What do you guys get? Ohh yea I do love that I get 4.5 mpg at cruise speed.

What type of tabs did you install on your 186? I was thinking of installing some smart tabs on mine, but am not sure where the best place to locate them would be.

Re: new 186 cc

They are bennet hydrolic sport tabs I think they are the 18-20 ft model.
I mounted them as far out as I could. Still it was tight. Just barely inbetween the swim ladder and the minimum clearance from the centerline of the boat. They do work good though. No climbing a mountain when trying to get on plane.
