I am repowering my 25' Seacat. Current power, 2-140 HP Suzuki 2-strokes. Considering 2 New Suzuki 140 4-strokes or 135 Optimax. Have read, heard, and observed mostly good things about both engines. Any one have experience or opinions with either engine. DFI vrs. 4-stroke??? Fuel ecomony? Power? reliability? longevity?

Rap,

The most IMPORTANT thing is DEALER SUPPORT. Check out the reputation of either before you shell out the $$$.

My thoughts on each:

Suzuki: Good reputation for durability. The 140 is a converted auto engine that's been around for a long time. Four stroke is inherently more complex-valves, etc.

Mercury: Been around longer than dirt. The 135 is based on the V-6 block that's been around forever as a 150. The 135 should offer very reliable service. The Optimax will deliver nearly the same in fuel economy and ease of use as the four stroke.

Just my OPINION!
