I have several flowering crab trees in my yard, and they are blooming.
I first noticed the blossoms on September 27th, several were open, multiple buds on the branches, along with the fruits from the spring bloom.

Now, there are many more open blossoms, even after many of the leaves have fallen, and we have had a hard frost.

Ever seen this before?

Yes, I have. When I lived in southern MN I had a crab apple that was triggered to bloom by any early Fall warm spells after a freeze.

Usually wasn't a big bloom and never produced fruit.

Even trees are confused with all the warm weather we've had lately! Flies are coming out of hibernation, dog is getting ticks again and those Asian/Chinese ladybugs are out in force too. That's ok, keep the warmth coming!

Well JB, I guess I have your trees. Thanks.

I pruned then Aug 25th. We then had cool September.
Buds formed mid to late September.
Then they started to bloom.

Mild frost hit us Oct 3 and 4. I thought that would drop the blossoms, but more are still forming and opening.

Living in the twilight zone.

Some of my wifes perennials are blooming again. They think it's spring! Others are starting to pop back out of the ground. We've had 3 hard frosts that I can think of so far....
