I have finally given up on my Tohatsu 25c3 model bought in 1998, this motor really has been crap, even with the total maintenance it did nothing but play up, we were never able to trust it as often it just would not start, even our local boat mechanic was bewildered at its problems, it would start fine one day run like a dream then go spastic for the next few times out, bloody shocker, has anyone else had Tohatsu probs like that, our 86 merc 8 hp still runs like a swiss watch and its got more hours up and gets flogged, the toey is a dud.

Re: Never again

As a Tohatso/Nissan dealer and mechanic, feel free to ask me anything about your 25. The forum is international, BTW.

Re: Never again

Hoffy,

The judicious use of a BFR on the source of the problem would have solved your issue long ago. I imagine you are a Kiwi or an Aussie? BFR's are very common down there so I am really surprised your mechanic lacked the ability or desire to use one. If you were one of my customers, rest assured, we would have used one almost immediately.

Re: Never again

Lets see: Newbe post, non-specific product rant, insulting follow-up......
I think there is some trolling going on here ;-)

Re: Never again

Hi
As stated this forum is International and I am Maltese.
1.Why are you insulting the "Yanks"? after all the two replies you got are from americans and they are trying to help. I think the problem lies with you and not the outboard.
Even if i new about the problem I will definetly not help you out. These people are nice , ok and have plenty of brains rest assured yourself.

Re: Never again

Edit: Unecessary

So far you haven't asked anyone anything. You have only made a bunch of generalized complaints (bashes) about your engine and insulted those who tried to get enough info to help.

Such behavior is not allowed here.

If you care to try again, please read our rules first. Then describe your engine in detail and the symptoms you seek to solve.

Re: Never again

Not sure what a BFR is, but I found this: BFR Biggest Finest Revolver (polite form)

I am thinking a BFH my ownself . . . No need to get agro Hoffy, we'd definitely prefer a happy little vegemite. Hopefully you'll get this sussed.

For the dumb Yanks: I told him not to get his panties in a bunch, and that I hope he gets the thing figured out.
