negotiating price

I am looking at a new hurricane deck boat list price 52,000.0 my current boat is worth about 8500.00 trying to find out a good starting point to offer. this dealer sels about 12 to 14 of these boats a year. is it unrealiatic to make an offer around 38k plus my boat. very good local dealer great folks do most on my maintaince on my current boat. what little i have anyway

at 42,000 you are eating all his profit. and really and truely they don't really want you trade in.

has my boat sold if i come up with something. I should have posted he will give me 8500.00 for mine he has a buyer already in line. I am fine with 8500.00 its fair for both of us he will make a couple grand and i am happy
