I have taken apart both of my 78 Merc 800 Inline 4cyl carbs to rebuild for flooding problems and have noticed that the 'original' needle/seat assembly is different than the replacements. My original has a tiny o-ring on inlet fuel side of seat and needle has discolored (like oxidized copper) and eraser-like tip. New seat lacks rubber o-ring and needle is solid metal. New assembly does still include metal washer to fit beneath seat. In regards to needle and seat, was I given the wrong parts or has this part been 'updated' on purpose?<br />After assembly, carbs seem to run fine and boat runs great.
