Hi everyone, I have a 1984 Ozark fish and ski boat model T164, that supposedly weighs right around 990 pounds. I also have a 1984 Johnson 70 HP model 70TLCRD thats suppose to run in the 4500 to 5500 R.P.M. range. My old Michigan Prop is aluminum, and has a hairline cracks in it and just really sad looking shape. We got this boat last year had it out a few times, and relized It needed a new transom in it. I am now have the new transom back in, and finishing putting the rest of boat back together. I want to get a new Propeller for it. The old propeller number is MICHIGAN PJ 88 CUP, which is no longer made the new number is MICHIGAN 011001. From what I find my prop I have now is supposed to be a 14" diameter, and 13 pitch prop, but when I measure it all out several times, it is only 13 1/4 ". So I dont know if who ever had this before me had it cut down or what. I seen I think on Iboats forumns that it mentions with my boat and engine I could use a Michigan 011003 prop which is a 13 1/4 dia. and a 17 pitch, used for a ski boat, which my model we use for fish and ski both. The prop I have now it says was for a house boat application. I have no idea about props what so ever, and was wanting to know from someone with knowledge about props if you think the 13 1/4 dia. and the 17 pitch would be a better way to go? Not sure what the Wide Open R.P.M. was last year, the tach did not work right, from the sound of the engine I would say it was in the 5000 to 5500 range. Thanks

A 13 pitch is way too much for your application. The 17 would be much closer. You really need to get the tach fixed to do proper prop selection.
