I realize that this is probably not the best place to ask my question, but I am hoping that because there are a lot of boaters here that someone might be familiar with a boatyard that suits my needs. With that said......

I am forced to move my boat up or down the coast from Savannah in order to get the anti-fouling bottom painting done. Unfortunately in Savannah and the Hilton Head area there are only a few boatyards that are able to haul a 28 ton, 56' boat and "none" that are willing to deal openly with me on the costs to do the bottom. The exceptions were $12,000 quoted by Palmer Johnson and $8,000 that Saint Augustine Marine estimated. I do not think these are reasonable quotes. I am hoping to move it to an area where there is some competition and interest in completing the work I need done.
Does anyone have experience with Halsey Cannon in Wando, SC.? Jacksonville, Fla. or Charleston are other choices that are still drivable for my commute from Atlanta on weekends for the next year.
I would appreciate referrals from satisfied customers. I am willing to pay a fair price and would like to deal with a reputable yard. Your help would be appreciated as her bottom is in dire need of attention. :(

I don’t know how far your willing to go but I live right outside of Boston, and there must be 50 places that could pull your boat out of the water and paint it…I don’t know any names but marinas are abundant here and there is plenty of competition…

Hey Capt. Bob,
I live in Jacksonville Florida and have dealt with the local marinas around here. Here is one I would recommend for bottom painting.
Lambs Yacht (904-384-5577) - I called them for you and they quoted me $1500.
That is for the haul out and back in, pressure wash and clean, one thick coat of anti-fouling paint. Zincs are extra as is any other work you might want done. (shaft seals, prop work, etc.)

I also called Huckins yacht but they didn't want to touch a steel hull.

Lamb's is on the Ortega river just off of the St. John's river. It's about 24NM from the Intercoastal. There are more places in town that can do it but your probably not going to beat that price by much if any.

b.gagnon...Thanks for the reply but Boston is a bit far. I bought the boat in RI and drove it down the coast and the next time I make that trip it will be for F U N !

GT150...Thank you for going to the trouble to call for me. If the price is legit and the hourly rate for some additional prep is not too high it sounds like the place to go. I eventually want to liveaboard in either Jax or St Aug so moving the boat now would not be a problem. Another fellow boater mentioned Lambs too. I will be on the phone asap.
Many Thanks,
