A friend is connecting a Lowrance HDS-7 to his '95 Johnson Faststrike 150 and would like to include inputs on the Lowrance from his motor (trim, rpm, fuel, amps, etc.) and he needs a wiring diagram. Does anyone know where one can be located? I did an online search but came up empty.

Many thanks,

There are some wiring diaghrams on the maxrules web site.

Lowrance is a fishfinder/GPS. Normally you would connect them just to power. You might want to connect the GPS to a VHF Radio, if you want to use the DSC capability.

You will want to use a red/purple wire which should be fuzed +12VDC, and Black which is ground.

Thanks Chris, I will search for the maxrules web site and check it out. It is my understanding that the lowrance has the capability to display all of these engine parameters I mentioned w/ the proper input. We will "T" them in with the existing gauge.

Thanks,

Use the '89 35 amp drawing. It will be close enough for what you are doing.

You will not get amps, I am afraid, volts yes, amps no. Oh it can be done...but urfff...big big wires spliced in to the stator output,
running to the helm and back. If you do tackle an ammeter, you better do it right....

Fuel is from the tank sender, no engine wiring for that.

Tach is the grey wire that exists in the wiring harness that runs to the helm and attaches to the tach there.
Purple is switched +12 VOLTS.
Red/purple is always hot (not switched.) Goes to the key.
Trim is off the trim sender located up under the tilt/trim mechanism. Looks like 2 black wires, but it is just a pot.

Black is ground at the key, black/yellow (stay away from) is engine kill. It is NOT ground.
