Need to slow down my Tohatsu 6HP...?

Hi, I have a 2011 Tohatsu 6HP. Idling is adjusted to run as slow as possible without stalling when changing into fwd or reverse gear. Problem is that it trolls too fast for the type of fishing I often do. I know I can throw a bucket overboard and use that as a slowing mechansism but is there anything elese I can do? If I slow the idling anymore the engine will stall. Thanks!

Change to a lower pitch prop. It will increase the RPM, but it will slow the overall speed.

Thanks. So nothing I can do to tweak the engine to run slower? Does only Tohatsu make spare props or do other company's make Tohatsu compatible props also? Thanks.

Check Solas at Iboats, have a June special. There are some small water parachutes for trolling purposes, will slow you down without changing prop.

I have the same motor. For slow trolling, nothing beats an electric motor! Get an electric trolling motor and you can go as slow as you want.. and its silent.

There are low-pitch props for the MFS 4/5/6, as well as a HT 6 pitch for sailboats that works well at slow speeds.
