I noticed the license plate was missing from my trailer. I think the plastic license plate holder failed. I have ordered another plate from our DMV and wondering about a more secure way of mounting it...?

it's not legal but you see alot of them bolted to the rear crosss frame. they are suppose to be lighted at night.

If the plastic license plate holder is still there and not damaged, when mounting the new plate use stainless steal flat fender washers (larger diameter than standard flat washers) and nylon locking nuts.

I had a friend cut a piece of aluminum (about 1/8 inch thick) the same size as the plate, bolted the plate in the lower corners to the alum. Then mounted the plate to the trailer fender(where original was). Added alot of strength to the whole assembly.

Get your self a piece of heavy mud flap (like on semis) cut it an inch bigger than the plate.it will hang straight but when it hits something or some thing hits it it will flex.this has worked on my trailer for years.
