last year I aquired a 1975 merc 650 thunder bolt ignition, 3 cylinder on a starcraft. Last year motor ran strong, after addressing some minor issues.
Now I am taking a very proactive maintenance approach to keep her running for many years to come. After checking my merc. shop manual, I discovered I do not have the timing pointer.
Local Mercury dealer can't find a part #, or the part. They were not much help. Can you still buy these things? Is the timing pointer the same on other models? Would anyone be willing to sell me one from a parted out motor? If the answer is no to all the above, could someone send me exact dimensions and photos so I could make my own?
I posted the above questions on the iboats motor forum. I know many of us have Merc outboards, and the members here are the best. I thought I would try my luck here also.
