Need Temp sender for OMC gauge

I have a 1998 Johnson 225hp (J225TXECS) just replaced a broken Teleflex temp gauge with an OMC (mid-90's vintage) temp gauge. The sender is not compatable as it simply pegs the OMC gauge at max temp. Wrong ohm range I suspect. Does anyone know where I can get the proper OMC sender? Or maybe a Sierra equivalent?
The sender is the type that has a NPT hole in the top of the port head with the typical tan colored wire.
Thanks,
Bill

The existing temp sendors on that motor simply ground if the motor overheats. They are open under normal operating temps. A water pressure gauge is a better instrument for an Outboard, than a temp gauge.

I agree with your opinion on the water pressure gauge. However, for clarification, the sender I am speaking of is the optional temp sender, not the one that is standard on both heads that grounds and sounds the horn. This one is sends the temperature to the gauge that can be added later and uses a NPT port on the top of the head. It is to the left of the factory emergency temp sensor.

HARD TO FIND...i WENT TO SEVERAL napa DEALERS LOOKING FOR A SIERRA PRODUCTS, THEY DONT KNOW HOW TO CROSS REFERENCE!!

i ORDERED MINE FROM MY MARINE PARTS DEALER.

i AM NOT SURE IF THATS AN npt...THE BOTTOM OF THE SENDER NEEDS TO TOUCH THE BOTTOM OF THE HOLE!! I THINK IT IS JUST A SIMILAR PITCHED THREAD

THE WATER PRESSURE RECEPTICLE IS AN npt!

SORRY FOR THE CAPS, BUT I WASNT ABOUT TO START OVER ! HA HA
