Not paying attention at the store grabbed the wrong oil. I use the quicksilver 25W-40 for my 2004 Merc 3.0 liter sterndrive. I grabbed the 25W-40 4 stroke OUTBOARD oil. What could be the big difference, if anything the Outboard oil should be even better. Yes, No?
Thanks

Re: Need some quick oil advice

Well there is a quick answer.

But the info is not quick per se'.

Read the following info if you want to know more about MNMMA FC-W oil for 4 stroke marine engines.

It's what Mercury Marine suggests using primarily.

I suspect that it was really designed for 4 stroke outboards and inboards that are left in salt water environments year-round.

Thanks for the response guys, I ended up using it for now. I was to far into it to run all the way back to the store. I will do a little more research over the winter and decide if I should change it. You would think that 25W-40 is still the same oil regardless of the outboard, sterndrive factor.
