I have a 14' 1964 MW Sea King boat with a 1973 25hp Johnson outboard on it. The motor pushes the boat quite fast and was wondering, would it be possible to somehow attach a ski pole on the boat to pull tubes and skiiers. Any help on if this is plausible and how to do so, would be greatly appreciated!

Sure maybe I boat sells them. It is a 3 legged stand. The ski post is bolted to your deck pointing straight up. It has 2 braces that point backwards and down at a 45 deg angle and they too are screwed to the deck.

when you say quite fast how fast is that? only reason i ask is because i've never seen any one tube or skii from a 25 horse. of course doesnt mean that it isn't possible with hull or pitch type. average tuber needs least 10-15 mph to plane 20+ for more fun. not sure on skiing as i dont have the money to blow just for myself since no one else in my family would or could skii. don't mean to tell you, you can't but if the tube doesn't plane it wont be fun for the driver or the tuber and it will be a LOT of stress on the skii pole.

Re: Need some input, new to boating

I grew up skiing behind a 14' aluminum boat with a 20 hp outboard. It would pull up a couple of small kids with my dad driving (no spotter). I could pull my dad (me driving the boat as a 12 year old, no spotter) my dad 165 lbs, and experienced skier on two skis. We tried pulling an old tractor inner tube with it and it did not have enough power to break the tube free from the water and get it planing. Maybe a newer covered tube with a covered bottom would have worked? That little 14' boat would go about 26-28 mph

If you have kids in the 10-14 age range if may work to pull them on skis. Or a smaller kid or light adult on a tube may work. You definitely DO NOT want to put a pylon on your boat. on a very light boat, raising the tow point will cause the bow to rise and it will never plane out. Use a bridle across the rear transom tie downs and keep the tow point low.

Good luck.

I used to pull the kids on a tube with a 9.9 merc........they could care less it was slow they had a blast and if I turned really tight I could almost tilt the tube......thinking back I understand why everyone would stop and stare

As I posted in another post I used a 16 foot skiff with a 25hp this last weekend for learn to ski day. I started with a small girl and she got up and went forever. I then tried a larger boy he could not get up then tryed my daughter who was bigger than him but knows how to ski she did fine. Knowing how to get up is key on any hp.
Hey you will have a blast just trying.
