need some help with an old evinrude

i got a boat that has a evinrude outboard motor not sure the year and stuff the serial number is modle number is 60552A serial is E01526

this is my first boat i have not started it. it turns over and has spark.

the control box for the shifter and throttle is broke and i have no idea where to even start looking or what i need. any help would help

I boats has a lot of the stuff you would be looking for. Also there are a few guys on here that have stuff for sale. I have even found stuff on ebay.. but you need to know what you are looking for and make sure the parts are not junk?? Ask the right questions before you buy anything. Hope this helps...

Does the engine turn over? Read the top secret thread at the top of the forum. Lotsa good starting info there. Then after post specific questions. Remote controls can be bought used for $50-$75 in my area so no problem there. Post pictures also, we love pictures. And welcome to the forum.

Your motor is a 1965 Sportfour. It is a good reliable v4 design that likes its gas. Any twin stick shifter from the early 60's until the early 70's should work.

It does turn over. and its just the remot control box that is bad. thanks now i know what motor it is.
