this will be my first time ever changing the lower unit oil so ive got a few questions before winter hits. the motor is a 65hp johnson hydro-drive. Ive been told a takes a type c oil and i believe this to be correct. Ive also been told i need to buy a small oil pumper to pump it it. looks like they are about 15 bucks so no big deal. My questions involve the actual process. I know i should be looking for 2 plugs on the side of the motor but i can only find one lower one slightly above the prop line. I cant for the life of me find the other. There is a u shape cover on the motor just behind the upper part of the transom and i assume it behind there but those screws are in pretty bad shape. Id like to confirm thats its behind there before i do some damage getting the cover off.

You are correct that you need to use type "C", I think they also call it priemun blend now, just make sure that you use oil for electric shift lower units. Look below at #45, those are the screws you need to remove. Make sure you install new seal washers,#46.
Remove both screws and let the lower unit drain. When you refill it, fill from the bottom screw until it comes out of the top screw, that will push all the air out. Install the top screw and then remove the pump and then install the lower screw.
