I have a 1997 Spectrum 22 DLX pontoon boat with a 1998 Mercury 9.9 EL. The control is a Quicksilver 3000.

The throttle lever on the Quicksilver 3000 broke off. I can't find any other serial or model numbers for it.

Are there replacement parts available? If so, where? And/or, if not, what do you suggest?

Thanks!

PS: One image shows a number on the inside of the control cover.

There is a used one on ebay but I have heard that the breaking off thing has been a problem with this model...should I worry about that and just go for a replacement part?

thanks

Re: Need Quicksilver 3000 throttle control help...

I just got an e-mail from the guy selling a used one on ebay. Very
interesting. Now I feel like I'm gettin' somewhere!

Here's what he said:

I Called- Mercury direct (The Company that made your control)

RECALL 2006-13
'Controls 3000 series binnical or side mount consealed. Made 1994-95
shaft hardness --- problem.'

WHAT TO DO:

Remove Your- control from boat-- on the side of the control a paper
sticker with Part # and Date.

If this is with-in the dates of recall --Your local dealer may exchange it
for a 4000 series.

Mercury didn't know of any other date failure's-- Just would say-- the
3000 series was weaker than the other controls.

I asked if the 3000 series other than the dates in recall was safe -- they
said didn't have any other known failures --

No other recalls other than the 94/95 MFG. Date

WHAT I HAVE:

Controls: I have for Sale are Mfg. 1999/2000 Dates.

Let me know what happens. - Scott

I have a New 4500 Binnical in the Store-- The newer controls take Gen II
cables -- have sets 14feet and 20 feet.
