Need pro's and con's on raytheon r x21 radar

I have picked up a Raytheon r 21x radar unit complete.
Am I wasting my time installing this in my boat.
Fishing off shore on the west coast I leave at night and have always been concerned with hitting something in the dark.

Your input would be appreciated

If it works and you feel you need radar and have a place to install it on the boat, by all means install it. Just remember, small boats or objects real close to the water surface make small/no reflection for radar unless very close. Still be concernd about hitting something.
