so one of my family friends gave me a broken princecraft fisher 14' with out a motor. so i ended up going on kijij and getting 3 motors that werent working. 908 1969 chrysler 9.9hp, mq10 1964 johnson 9.5hp and qd22 1961 johnson 10hp. now i fixed cleaned and tuned all three motors and there working great but i dont need 3 so iv decided to keep the chrysler and im going to sell the two johnsons im just not sure what they are worth. i was wondering if any one here has ever sold or seen one of these sold and how much i should be asking. i live in ontario, canada

thanks in advance

Re: need pricing

hello William.

Where in Ontario are you? Im in Hamilton. I wonder if you bought any of them off of me, lol.

I sell quite a few motors in kijiji. Alot depends on cosmetic condition. My motors that are good cosmetically sell quicker and for higher money. Even if a motor is done fully, but is badly aged, it sits for a while. So hard to say without pics and viewing them.

A fully tuned motor, that is full ignition (coils/points/condensors/plug wire/boots/plugs), carb kit and clean with new fuel line, head gasket, water pump, gearcase rebuilt with fresh oil and tuned/cleaned usually only brings about $200 to $300 if it looks decent.

As you can see, I dont do it for the money, but for the hobby ;)

I still get the clown every day offering me 50 bucks for a motor I have over $150 in parts alone into. Yeah, it happens.

Re: need pricing

im in northyork i got the two johnsons from a guy in scarbrough for $150 for both with one tank and got the chrysler for an amazing $30 with tank and hose in markham. iv just had to clean the carbs and put new gaskets and replace a gasline everything else was amazing the ignition systems on both johnsons look newhad to regap the points on the 1961. lower units seem ok but i havent put them on a lake to make sure only test tank. i would have gotten some pics up sooner but this forum doesnt seem to use tapatalk so i wasnt able to upload straight from my phone.

Re: need pricing

i like the 61 the most but its super heavy the chrysler is half the weight plus its a long shaft and the only boat i have is for a short shaft that u can see in the pic with the blue. i cut the other boat up for donor parts

Re: need pricing

That QD is a short shaft, not long. The longs have a 5" extension piece in them.

I had a guy come over last night looking for a 9.5, but I didnt have any left. If you are looking to sell it I could pass along his contact info, PM me.

Re: need pricing

The '61 pictured is not a long shaft as far as I can tell and would be perfect for your boat. It's not all that heavy to me....... :)
I would send the Chrysler and the 9.5 down the road. Honestly, I'm not that familiar with a '69 Chrysler but can guarantee you that the OMC is heavier because it's built out of better stuff and meant to last. I just don't like the 9.5hp OMC's for various reasons but guarantee the 10hp to be easier to work on as a whole, along with what will feel like more than just a 1/2 hp difference. You will regret selling the 10hp OMC if you use the Chrysler for a while.
