If it does not have a distributor, it can be done but it is complex and costly. You need a distributor, an alternator stator, a flywheel. a stator carrier and you must drill the block to carry it PLUS the carrier must be milled down to clear the top bearing--unless you can find the expensive after-market coversion piece. All in all, USED parts will cost somewhere around a couple to three hundred bucks.
If it has a distributor ignition, points, condenser, distributor rotor, and a coil are all that is necessary, but these engines idle like crap. Not really a good choice. AND you will still spend over a hundred bucks in parts.
Why do you want to convert? Electronic ignition is so much better.
